SHUTTERING ( FORM WORK )
Form-Work :- The Temporary structure erected to support the concrete in it's required shape , till it hardens and becomes self supporting in known as the form-work or Shuttering.
Type of Form-work :-
1) Steel Plate :- Size of steel plates are different , generally thick plates are used , following are some of the size available in market.
- 3'0" x 2'0" x 1"
- 4'0" x 2'0"
- 1'6" x 3'0"
- 0'9" x 3'0"
2) Playwood :- Plywood should be stuff, water-proof and higher usable value. Generally, plywood is used for the form-work of column and beam . When good surface quality of concrete is required , plywood is used for slab shuttering but it is costlier than steel plates, following are some of the size available in market.
- 4'0" x 8'0"
- 3'0" x 8'0"
Thickness of plywood should be 10mm to 12 mm.
- Good Form-work
- The form-work must be water-proofed
- The form-work should strong to take load of concrete and live loads, etc
- Form work should not be deflected when loaded.
- Form work surface should be plain and smooth , joint should be straight.
